According to international reports, about 18 million Yemenis suffer from food insecurity, of whom 9.88 million suffer from severe hunger, and 7.37 million are malnourished. As the war led to the collapse of the economy, millions of Yemenis lost their livelihoods, making it difficult for them to provide their minimum food and living needs, while the high prices of basic commodities deprived millions of Yemenis of the food they needed. In order to alleviate this suffering, Al-Rowad Development implemented, during the year 2021, a number of seasonal and non-seasonal projects that contributed to achieving food security for poor and needy families, as well as displaced families and those affected by the events.
